2010 New Brunswick Medalists

Talented young people from a wide array of disciplines took their place in history recently by being recognized as medalists in the NAACP ACT-SO New Jersey competition. Gold, silver and bronze medalists were announced during the ACT-SO New Jersey 21st annual celebration

Thirty Six students from the ACT-SO New Brunswick program participated in the competition this April. Of those thirty-six students, sixteen placed. Those students and categories are:

  • Queena Bergen – Silver Medal, Poetry

  • Angelique Chandler – Silver Medal, Dance
    Bronze Medal, Contemporary Vocal
    (Piscataway High School)
     
  • Donaya Forester – Gold Medal, Contemporary Vocal
    (New Brunswick High School)
     
  • Tyler Glover – Gold Medal, Oratory
    (South Brunswick High School)
     
  • Chloe Hall, Gold Medal, Architecture
    (South Brunswick High School)
     
  • Jalyssa James, Silver Medal, Contemporary Vocal
    (Franklin High School)
     
  • Zaire Julion – Gold Medal, Original Essay
    (New Brunswick High School)
     
  • Dante Laughlin – Silver Medal, Oratory,
    Silver Medal, Drama
    (Piscataway High School)

  • Jarred McGriff – Silver Medal, Filmmaking, 
    Silver Medal, Photography

  • Jasmin Neal – Silver Medal, Sculpture
    (The Pingry School)
     
  • Alyea Pierce – Gold Medal, Poetry

Gold medalists advanced to the National NAACP ACT-SO competition which was held in Kansas City, MO, in July 2010. Jalyssa James was awarded with a SILVER medal for her performance in the category of Music Vocal Contemporary.
